As a city located on the west coast of Turkey, Izmir has undergone a rapid change and development in the field of architecture for years. The city has been influenced by many different architectural styles since the Ottoman period. Ottoman period architecture can be seen with the buildings located in the historical center of Izmir. These structures are usually made of cut stone, marble and wooden materials.

In recent years, Izmir has come under the influence of modern and contemporary architectural styles. The city skyline is decorated with tall buildings and towers. These buildings are usually made of concrete, glass and steel materials. These buildings contrast with the historical buildings in the city center.

This change took place in parallel with the economic and social development of Izmir. New business centers, shopping malls and housing projects contrast with the historical areas in the city center. This change shows that Izmir has undergone a rapid change and development in the field of architecture.

However, Izmir municipality and other institutions are making efforts to protect and renew the historical areas in the city center. Thanks to these studies, Izmir is accepted as a city where historical and modern architectural styles are harmoniously together.

As a result, Izmir has undergone a rapid change and development in the field of architecture. The city, which is under the influence of Ottoman period architecture and modern and contemporary architectural styles, is accepted as a place where historical and modern buildings coexist harmoniously.
